Willkommen bei der EnergieAgentur.NRW

At the end of the 90s the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and the EnergyAgency.NRW launched the campaign for the construction of 50 solar energy housing estates in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to greatly reduce the energy requirement through appropriate solar construction methods and, on the other hand, to cover the remaining energy needs with solar energy for the most part. The ministries have coordinated their subsidy programmes for this project.

The campaign places specific requirements on the construction of solar energy housing estates:

• Heat energy consumption: max. 15 kWh/m²a (passive house standard) or max. 35 kWh/m²a
• Production of hot water: The solar energy contribution is to be at least 60 % of the energy requirements.
• The production of electricity by photovoltaics: At least 1 kWp  per housing unit. 

At least two of the three requirements are to be fulfilled in order to obtain the status of a "Solar energy housing estate".
