At the end of the 90s the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and the EnergyAgency.NRW launched the campaign for the construction of 50 solar energy housing estates in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to greatly reduce the energy requirement through appropriate solar construction methods and, on the other hand, to cover the remaining energy needs with solar energy for the most part. The ministries have coordinated their subsidy programmes for this project.
The campaign places specific requirements on the construction of solar energy housing estates:
